How to reset HP Touchpad

If you meet some problem which you can not solve on HP Touchpad tablet, you need to reset your tablet. You can try to perform a soft reset on your tablet, just restart it, if the problem persists, you have to perform a hard reset on HP Touchpad tablet. Hard reset will reset all settings to factory settings, so before you decide to hard reset your HP Touchpad tablet, back up useful data first.

How to hard reset HP Touchpad:

1. Before erasing and resetting your device, back up your HP webOS
2. Back up the data stored on your device’s USB drive.
3. Open Device Info.
4. Tap Reset Options.
5. Do one of the following:
-Tap Erase Apps & Data twice to delete all personal information
-Tap Erase USB Drive twice to erase everything stored on the USB drive
-Tap Full Erase twice to erase all personal info, apps, and everything stored on the USB drive
-Tap Secure Full Erase twice to overwrite and then erase everything deleted by a full erase.
6. To restore HP webOS Account data after erasing apps and data, the USB drive, or a full erase, follow the onscreen prompts to enter the HP webOS Account email address and password. DO NOT create a new HP webOS Account.

If the touch screen of your HP Touchpad tablet doesn’t work at all, press and hold Option + Sym + power button and continue holding for 10 seconds after the Full Erase screen appears. In this way, you can also reset your tablet.

I know what the power button is, but was is Sym and Option button?

@tay: You have to press and hold “power” “volume up” and “center” button.

the best way to reset your tablet is to hold down the power button at the top and at the same time hold down the small black button for fifteen seconds.just got off the phone with a tech. it worked for me hope this helps the rest of you guys thanks. the chubbster

I just ran into the same problem. Contact HP tech support. Just hold down the “power” button (at the top right corner of the unit) and the black “center” button (at the center near the bottom of the unit simultaneously for about 15 seconds. This will reset the unit.

my gf forgot her touchpad password and can’t get in? How can I reset without password? Tried the above option and didn’t work.
